Black Rebel Group is a relatively new stand alone company (we worked within a business before starting out on our own). We want to work primarily with small businesses to help them to increase their business presence online. We are currently focusing on small businesses in the area in which we are based, then eventually we will branch out further. As we are focusing our efforts locally, it was feasible for us to visit businesses in person not only to discuss what we do with business owner but also to find out what they are looking for.
We’ve had quite a positive response from these visits, however, I’ve noticed that quite a few businesses in our area have had bad experiences with marketing companies and so don’t want to risk using them again. So, I decided to take a look not only at reviews of some of the marketing companies that were mentioned but at marketing companies in the area in general. I was actually very surprised by some of the reviews I found and the way that some companies were treating their customers, especially small business owners.
Harassing them with phone calls, charging them extortionate amounts, lots of hidden fees, bad customer service, taking payments without consent, ridiculous leaving fees etc.
SO, what I’m trying to get across in this post is not all companies are the same!!
Yes , there will be some that promise you the world and don’t deliver and are only bothered about the money, but it is like that in most industries. There were plenty of positive things said about digital marketing companies, praising them for their work, saying how helpful they were and how they had helped their companies.
We’re quite open at Black Rebel Group, if you want to know something all you have to do is ask. We try to give you as much information as possible so, not only can you make an informed decision on whether to use our services but also ensure there are no surprises for you. Trust is a big thing for us and when looking through the reviews, there were several problems that kept coming up, so I’m going to list them below and tell you why we are different:
“There were lots of hidden fees”
We will give you all the information we have about our costs before you start using our services. We do ask for deposits on any design work we carry out and our website design service requires an upfront payment in full.
“Constant phone calls trying to sell”
We will only contact you if we need to e.g. confirm and clarify information, discuss design work, discuss a quote and we will not trying selling to you over the phone. We may tell you the services we provide so that if you are interested, we will come to you to discuss your business needs at a time that suits you.
“They authorised charges without my knowledge”
This is something we would NEVER do, and I’m not sure of any marketing companies that do. You will always be informed of charges and will be required to authorise them yourself. Like I’ve said in a previous point, we ask for deposits and some services have upfront charges but you will be made aware of this and you will have to authorise the payment yourself. Also if the service we are providing you with has a recurring charge, you will receive an invoice that will need to be approved by you before a payment is made.
“All they care about is money”
While obviously there are costs for our services, we will not try to sell you something that you don’t actually need. We will do our best to cater our services to your needs and give you the best price.
“I was charged for the release of my domain”
If you use our website design service, the website we produce will be live for one year with us and your domain name is included in the one off cost for this. If you do not want us to maintain the site after the year is up we WILL NOT charge you for releasing your domain. After we have released it to you, we will not be responsible for renewing the ownership of the domain.
“I couldn’t get in touch with anyone when I had a problem”
Unfortunately, we cannot be available 24/7 but there are several ways you can reach us. Whichever method you choose, we will try and get back to you as soon as we can.

Like I said earlier in the post, not all digital marketing companies are the same, there’s always going to be some bad apples. But you shouldn’t let one bad experience stop you from introducing digital marketing into your business, you could be losing valuable customers by doing so…
